Meeting April 16th

          Hey everyone! Today at the meeting we took all the tents out of the back room and set them all up to take inventory of the parts. I'm glad to be able to say that most tents were in fine condition, apart from the filthiness and the smell anyways..... We hope to get that taken care of soon(: we also talked about Many Point and Namokoggen. I'm looking forward to Fred C. Anderson, which will be the first camp out for many of the new scouts, hope to see everyone there! Remember that next week is COH. Wear your full uniform and sash, and bring a treat to share for afterwards. Have a good week, seeya Monday!

Meeting April 15th

        Hey everyone! Sorry this post is really late, i just completely blanked out all week. Last meeting we had muster(Yay!!!!!!) Almost everyone was prepared, keyword: almost. After muster we finally made our patrols, now that we have enough kids to actually have separate ones. The two patrols are now The Unlucky Charms and Flaming Pegasi( i think i got that right...) We hope to start having patrol meetings, and the patrol leaders should start thinking about that. Well that's all i have for now, seeya tomorrow!

Meeting March 4th

              Hey  everyone! Today we started winter sowing for the plant sale this year, we had lots of fun cutting milk cartons(even if we sucked at it), planting the seeds and getting dirt everywhere. We had our AWESOME new scouts jack, peter, and CJ at the meeting and they were lots of fun! were all looking forward to great times with you guys!! I'm hoping to have a follow up meeting sometime where we can all earn the gardening merit badge because this brushed off some requirements. I finally got the pics from the ski trip so i will put those up also. we also took pics today so i will get those up asap! also, the techno night service project is going to be a food drive with the ICA to help break a guiness record! details to come.  thats all i got for now!! seeya next week!!

Meeting February 27th

              Hey everyone! Today we had a PLC meeting at the GLAC. We talked about lots of good stuff, including many point and what we are going to do for high adventure. Next week we will be doing winter sowing for the plant sale so be sure to bring milk cartons! (plastic gallon no caps needed) We also had a special guest, James, who might join our troop! Yay for him! After the PLC we played some SuPeR intense goochi goochi ball. In case you missed the big announcement, i will be gone from scout meetings until late May, so for a while. Good luck getting along without me! Just kidding, you'll do fine. That's all for now folks, seeya next week! :) Oh and BTW special thanks to the people who actually read these things, your AWESOME.

Meeting February 6th

              Hello everybody! At today's meeting me crashed on a plane in the middle of the Canadian tundra and were forced to prioritize in order to survive! unfortunately, nobody survived. again. On the bright side, everyone got chocolate! Except for everyone that didn't go of course. shame on you. I have learned today that nobody actually checks the website and reads these amazing and creative blogs i make, which makes me horribly sad and depressed. And from now on, i decree that everyone must read Liam's awesome blogs. There, end of discussion. This Friday is the ski trip! For everyone who is going, i will be sending out a packing list tonight. I believe that is everything for now, thank you to those who actually took the time to read these amazing blogs, statistics show that it actually raises the awesomeness level in your body, just take me as an example :) Have a great week!

Meeting January 30th

               Hey everyone! Today at the meeting we discussed a lot of things and came to a lot of good decisions. First of all, we have a made a final decision on the tipee. The reason that we were hesitant was because it would cost a lot but we have decided that due to lack of planning the road trip has been canceled and that opens up room for paying for the tipee. So we will begin that process very soon! Secondly, there has been a proposition that instead of doing a high adventure in the summer of 2013 we go to the national jamboree in West Virginia. No serious discussion yet just an idea. Third, i'm sure you have all heard about Owens predicament so the meeting next week will be planned by rich instead and the meeting after that is cancelled. We made some pretty awesome cards for Owen with awesome labels by me :) Also, i need ski trip permissions a week ago so please get those to me. That's all i have for now, have a good week see ya next time!

Meeting January 9th

          Hey everyone! We had a pretty amazing meeting this Monday, it was spectacular! Matt had some pretty creative ideas for the meeting but i have to say the acting was mediocre at best. congratulations to Johnny for winning the first prize for popcorn/wreath sales, you sold an amazing amount of stuff! Hope your having fun with the zyclone! Also we saw some new people at the meeting, Tommy. who isn't quite new but we hadn't seen him in awhile and were looking forward to the ski trip with him! also peter, who has decided to join our troop(Yay for him!) was there and was a great contribution! There will be no meeting next week because it's MLK day! Yay no school! everyone enjoy the three day weekend! Thats all i have for today, seeya next time!

Meeting December 19th

Hey guys! we had our Christmas party today at the GLAC led by Alex, thanks Alex! we did some awesome Christmas trivia, which I won of course ;) we also ate LOTS of random sugary stuff and played gouchi gouchi hack y sack! it was a fun meeting! there wont be a meeting for the next two weeks so don't show up to the GLAC please. oh and Liam is awesome :)

Optimists Tree Lot Service Project

Reminder: Troop 290 is participating in the Optimists Tree Lot service project at 9:00 AM on Saturday Nov 19th, 2011.

If you sold JUST wreaths, you may pick up your wreaths:
            Thurs 11/17     4 to 8 pm (preferred)
            Sat 11/19         noon to 3 pm
            Sun 11/20        noon to 3 pm
If you sold BOTH popcorn & wreaths, you may pick up your order:
            Sat 11/19  noon to 3 pm (preferred)
            Sun 11/20 noon to 3 pm

Please let Mrs. Hiller know when you will be picking up your order.
Remember we have a few evergreen products still available.  You an boost your sales a bit by selling some of our overstock.  If you want one of these, let me know ASAP and I will set it aside for you!

PLC and PCM Meetings Monday 11/14

The PLC (Parent Committee Meeting as at 6:00 at the GLAC.
The PCM (Scouts planning meeting) follows immediately afterward.

Techno Nite - Moved BACK to Nov 11th

Techno Nite has been moved BACK to the original date of November 11th (not November 18th).  The Optimists tree lot service project was moved to Saturday, November 19th (9:00 AM - 12:00).

Last Saturday's Service Project a huge success!

Troop 290 scouts spent over an hour cleaning up behind the future location of Kraemers Hardware on Saturday, and filled many bags of trash.  It was cold, but the scouts did a good job working hard.

Service Project this Saturday! 8AM

Meet at Glen Lake shops, south side of Excelsior blvd., east end of stores (behind old Snyders store).
Bring gloves, wear appropriate foot wear and clothes and class B shirts. Orange vests and garbage bags provided.
We will also have donuts and hot chocolate.
We are helping the Kreamers hardware folks. They are helping our troop next spring!

Halloween Party

Monday, Oct 24 is a Halloween Party.  Organized by Ryan.  There will be no meeting on Monday, October 31st due to Halloween.
